Signed Watercolor Painting of a 19th Century French Style Home & Gardeners
This is a beautiful watercolor painting by Horace Kirk (signed H. Kirk) of an English country scene. The painting is anchored with a rendition of a stately French style home. In front of the home are two gardeners tending to home's landscape. A large tree, along with smaller trees and bushes adorn the property. A wheel barrow, a pot and basket are featured as well. The adult man is holding a plant in a clay pot, while the younger person is holding a rake. The palette used by the artist mixes a variety of ochres, light browns, and a mix of greens. The home is beautifully painted and the figures are detailed very nicely.
The painting measures 8 1/2 inches wide x 6 5/8 inches high. The outer frame, which measures 11 inches wide x 9 1/4 inches high, is a light colored mahogany, while the inner frame is painted a gold. There is information about the artist on frame's back.
This is a lovely watercolor of an English country scene.
