About Lofty Lighting
Our Service Pledge
We are pleased to respond to any questions you may have.We guarantee the authenticity of our lighting as described. Although most of our lighting is pre-WWII, we do have fixtures called Mid-Century Modern for those who are restoring their post-war cottage or bungalow. We have the occasional Italian or French fixture but most are American made.
All fixtures are safely wired and ready for use. Unless stated differently, all wiring is vintage style double wire. Old wall paint is removed. Fixtures have their original finish unless stated differently and sockets are original and in good working order. Any necessary attachment hardware will be provided but not any light bulbs you may see in pictures.
CEILING CHAINS: Using the following information - 6' 8" clearance from the floor for pathways, 6' for counters and 5' 6" for dining room tables - measure your walls from floor to ceiling and subtract the amount of clearance needed from that available room height. The remainder is the allowance you have for a fixture. We keep the original chain on chandeliers when possible or, if not, a new period replica. If you require a chain which is longer than stated in our description, all new chain may be required. Contact us to discuss this and any additional cost which may or may not be involved.
About Us
In business since 1988, Lofty Lighting specializes in American antique and vintage lighting, carefully restored to retain its vintage character. We think of ourselves as recyclers by reviving the treasures of past generations to be used again. We look for fixtures that are complete with all original parts but if a canopy or finial is a vintage substitute, we will warn you and price it accordingly. Shades are never cracked but small chipping is allowed if it can be hidden. It is normal for shades that have been cut from a mold to have rough edges that can be seen.We don't think reproduction light fixtures look comfortable in an old house even after it is restored nor do they retain their value once installed. Consider this when comparing the price of old and new fixtures. You will also be helping to preserve a piece of the past.
