A very, very pretty little crochet beadwork drawstring purse from the year 1862, the 23rd March 1862 to be accurate. The top of this pretty purse is crochet netted in purple silk thread. The bottom of the purse is of profuse glass and cut steel beads.

This gorgeous purse originated from one of the Eastern European, Baltic regions as the wording included in the beaded decoration is in Cyrillic script. We can for sure make out 23. Mar. MC. 1862. We adore the central band of beadwork flowers, we see pretty pink roses etc. This sweet purse has its original silk lining intact.

Size: 5 1/2 inch (14 cm) tall by 3 1/4 inch (8.5 cm) at its widest point.

Condition: Good and sound, this purse could be used carefully for a special occasion. The cut steel beadwork has oxidized. Approx 6 cut steel beads missing to the base. An area of fading to the purple crochet body to the reverse. The drawstring is a later replacement. Traces of the fly fringe side tassels just remain.
